All five smartphones will be available in Champagne Gold, Sky Black, and Space Grey color variants via offline retailers.
Tecno Mobile, which has operations in Africa, says all five new smartphones are ‘Made in India‘, something it claims can be discerned from the ‘i’ prefix in the names.
One of the examples of India-specific customizations includes the camera app, which the company says features an optimized algorithm tailored to the Indian skin tone.
Transsion Holdings Vice President Arif Chowdhury, says,
“Our “i” series is made for India, designed for India. “India is a very important market for us and most importantly, we are launching a series of products, not one product. It’s easy to make one phone for India but to make a series for India shows how serious we are about the market,” he added.
The company also boasts of its PIXELEX engine that is meant to improve the quality of night photos and videos.
Some models, like the Tecno i7, also come with a quad-LED flash module on the rear camera, apart from screen flash and a separate LED module for the front camera.
Another feature being touted by the company is the presence of an ‘anti-oil fingerprint sensor‘, which it says allows users to unlock their smartphones without much worry about “Indian lifestyle and weather conditions.”
Tecno Mobile also boasts of its Rocket fast charging technology, which is said to shorten charging time by as much as 20 percent compared to traditional charging methods.
Finally, the company is also highlighting features of its own HiOS custom Android ROM, which is based on Android 7.0 Nougat and includes features like Smart Split-Screen.
The company says it will launch its smartphones in the country(India) with a ‘Tecno 151 Promise‘ – this is meant to signify a 100-day replacement guarantee, 50 percent buyback, and 1-year one-time screen replacement. This offer will be free for a limited time.
Vice President Arif Chowdhury of Transsion Holdings adds,
“After-sales service is very important for the group,” he said when asked about the company’s emphasis on providing customer service to users in India. “We have spent $70-75 million dollars globally to set-up service centers,”
Chowdhury said. Even though the company operates its own service centers in other markets where the brand has made its presence, in India it will be dependent on 144 third-party after-sales service outlets”

Let’s see more of what the Tecno i7 and co have to offer.
Tecno i7 Specifications
Let’s start with the specifications of the smartphone.
The biggest highlight of the Tecno i7 is its 16-megapixel front camera which is being marketed as “night selfie camera.”
The front camera comes with screen flash as well as a front LED flash. The Tecno i7 also sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with quad-LED flash.
The Tecno i7 features a metallic build, and also comes with a fingerprint scanner at the front embedded in the home button.
Talking about the display, it has a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) IPS display.
The Tecno i7 supports dual-SIM functionality and is baked in Tecno’s own HiOS, based on Android 7.0 Nougat.
The i7 is made to run pretty fast. It is powered by 1.5GHz octa-core processor Mediatek SoC processor coupled with a whopping 4GB RAM.
When you see anything bigger than 2GB RAM, you should be expecting a ROM that’s up to 32 or 64GB.
The Tecno i7 packs 32GB of inbuilt storage that’s expandable via microSD card.
Another interesting fact about the Tecno i7 is its 4000mAh battery with Rocket Charging.
With such amount of juice, you can explore the features of your i7 without power compromise.
Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE(Voice Over Lont-Term Evolution LTE) support.
Tecno i3 and i3 Pro
The Tecno i3 and i3 Pro spot a 12.7cm(5-inch) HD IPS display. The camera sensors are an 8MP front and another 8MP rear camera with same features like the i7.
The Tecno i3 and Tecno i3 Pro are nearly identical, with the only difference in increased memory (3GB of RAM i3 Pro) and the presence of an anti-oil fingerprint sensor while the former has 2GB RAM with no Anti-Oil Fingerprint scanner.
They both have a 16GB of inbuilt storage, 4G VoLTE and ViLTE(Video Over Long-Term Evolution) support, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and a 3050mAh battery.
Tecno i5 and Tecno i5 Pro
The Tecno i5 and i5 Pro spot a 13.97cm(5.5) HD IPS display. The camera sensors are an 8MP front and a 13MP rear camera with same features like the i7.
They are both powered by a 4000mAh battery with “Rocket Fast” charging technology, support VoLTE, and ViLTE and an Anti-Oil fingerprint sensor.
The only difference between the Tecno i5 and i5 Pro is in the memory / RAM capacity. The i5 packs 16GB ROM plus 2GB of RAM while the i5 Pro features a larger 3GB of RAM and 32GB ROM.
So if you are too sensitive to speed, you can go for the i5 Pro or i7.
Well, I must confess, “I am already in love with the Tecno i7″ and hope Tecno will launch devices with such specs in other African countries especially Nigeria”
