Physical Touch Sensitive Qwerty Keyboard

One of those business/enterprise-like features Blackberry likes incorporating into their smartphones is a physical keyboard. Like the Blackberry Passport, the KeyOne also has a touch-sensitive qwerty keyboard.

You don’t just get a keyboard but a featured packed Keyboard. The Blackberry KEYone keyboard supports

  • Fingerprint recognition via the Spacebar.
  • The keys act or have a touchscreen feel.
  • You can perform gestures on the keyboard and also use it as shortcuts to launch apps and contacts like hitting “U” for Uber, “G” for Gmail, “B” for Browser and many others that you could customize yourself.
  • Responds to touch gestures like a trackpad, to quickly scroll through web pages or emails.

Maybe the KeyOne is mainly pointed at the keyboard. Although most people may not like the physical keyboard which occupies the space that might have been used to increase the screen size, the BB KeyOne is going to be very user-friendly.

Operating System

To keep everything fresh and modern, Blackberry packed the device with Android’s latest Nougat 7.0 OS. The features nougat has to offer plus Blackberry’s unique features makes the KeyOne a real deal.

The device is preloaded with Google’s default apps plus Blackberry apps like Blackberry Hub, DTEK etc.

Blackberry DTEK security KEYone

Security in smartphones has always made Blackberry the choice for many businessmen and women, security personnel, presidents and other security conscious individuals.

Like the Blackberry DTEK50, KEYONE uses both hardware encryption and software security to offer a world-class mobile security solution.

According to TCL, the KEYone is the world’s most secured smartphone.

Apart from the internal security, there is a fingerprint sensor on the spacebar. I don’t know how comfortable the position is, it’s up to you.

The Blackberry KEYone has a 12MP / 8 MP camera, has an internal storage of 32GB which can be increased to 2 terabytes via the hot-swappable Micro SD card slot.

The KEYONE is powered by a nonremovable 3505 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0.  According to Blackberry, the KEYone has the biggest battery any Blackberry has ever had which means plenty of power and uptime.

The KEYone isn’t just fanciful, but sturdy. The phone’s body is has a strong aluminum frame while the display is resistant to impact/pressure.

On the side of the smartphone is a “convenience key” for taking camera shots, muting calls or performing other preset functions. Although getting used to the physical keyboard in this era of basically touchscreen smartphones might be an issue. But getting used to the KeyOne won’t be so hard for old or die-hard Blackberry fans.

With a Snapdragon 625 CPU underneath it, the BlackBerry KEYOne will cost £499 SIM-free.

  • In the US, it’ll go for $549
  • In Nigeria, it will cost N172,000
  • In India, it will cost Rs, 36,584
