Fix Brom Error Sft Enable Dram_Fail (4032)

How to fix enable dram failed error 4032 sp flahtool

I know the dreadful error 4032 in Sp Flashtool isn’t new at all to MTK phone users. It is as old as Mediatek itself. It’s one of those errors every MTK user doesn’t want to encounter. It kinda makes you feel like crying.

You might get the error when you flash an MTK phone or format it. If you get error 4032 prior to flashing/formatting an MTK phone, it might not brick it.

It’s just a kind of warning alerting you of the incompatible firmware.

If you format/flash an MTK phone successfully and for any reason, you get the DRAM FAILED error, your device might be bricked.

The phone will refuse to turn on no matter how hard you press the power key and it won’t show the charging notification.

The phone will be totally useless if it’s not rectified.

Error 4032 is not always related to incompatible firmware, sometimes, improper driver installation might also cause the same issue.

Let’s briefly look at the known causes of this error.

Causes Of  Enable Dram Fail Error 4032

  • If you look closely at the header image above, the second line says, please check your load matches to the target.

What it’s saying is, if you want to flash an Infinix X551 with a 1GB RAM and a 16GB ROM, make sure the file you selected is for the Infinix X551 16+1 and not Infinix X551 16+2.

  • Mistaking one file for the other and flashing it(especially the preloader.bin) will definitely cause error 4032.
  • Most times, loading the wrong file and using it to format the whole device including the bootloader leads to a hard bricked phone.
  • Breaking the flashing process, either by unplugging the USB cable, shaking it or an inconsistent battery can be the prime suspects.
  • Not properly installing MediaTek USB VCOM drivers especially the Preloader VCOM and DA USB.

Sometimes even when you try to flash your original stock ROM(101% tested), back on the device using SP Flashtool, it might still welcome you with the BROM ERROR : S_FT_ENABLE_DRAM_FAIL (4032)

I have had several experiences and support from Devs regarding this error 4032. I don’t panic whenever I face such issues.

I am sharing what I know or have learned so that you too won’t give up after trying to fix your bricked MTK Android device.

Note :
Although SP flash will warn you if there’s a chip mismatch, most times its recommended to check if the phone you want to flash isn’t a copy or clone of the original.

There are so many clones of  Tecno, Infinix, Gionee and other popular Mediatek Android phones, so cross-check before pressing the red button to avoid issues.

There’s no point blank solution to this error in sp flashtool, but there are some methods that have always worked for me since I started experiencing such errors.

I will try to list them below. If you can assist, do that via the comments box. The most important thing you need is patience and the right tools.

How To Fix BROM ERROR: S_FT_ENABLE_DRAM_FAIL (4032) In SP Flash Tool

Try flashing without the battery while pressing either volume up or down or both Volume up and down buttons before connecting the USB cable. The Volume buttons most times trigger a faster connection between SP flash tool and your devices BROM.

  • If yours has a Home button [e.g Cloned Samsung Galaxy devices], try pressing it before connecting the USB cable. Allow drivers to install if there is any.
  • Also, try changing/using different USB ports or PCs. You might get a clean PC and do a fresh install of all the needed MTK drivers.
  • Make sure you have the original stock ROM (tested) of the bricked device. Flash just the Preloader and any other partition first. You can download stock ROMs of MTK Android phones here
  • Download a fresh copy of Sp flash tool latest version [] and the older [] and extract the contents to your PC. Some devices actually work better with older versions of Sp Flash tool.*
  • Open your device manager and make sure all MediaTek VCOM USB drivers are installed properly MediaTek Preloader USB VCOM, MediaTek DA USB VCOM, USB Debug, USB Modem, MTK USB because they are all important especially the first two. If you haven’t done that, you can download and install Mediatek USB Vcom drivers here.
  • Try running SP Flash as an Admin.
  • If you can’t find the stock ROM of your MTK device, get a working phone and backup the stock ROM using MTK Droid tools or drop your phone’s model in the comments section and we will help you get a working ROM.
  • Try formatting it first in the Format tab. Use either firmware upgrade or Format all and Download option in Sp flash tool. If not working due to the number of partitions loaded, Use Download Only. You can also try loading just a single partition and try flashing it.

Enable dram failed error 4032

  • Click on Download. Make sure the phone’s battery is charged properly. Now connect the USB cable to the phone.
  • Note: You might also press and hold Volume Up or Down Button or both before connecting the phone or flash without the battery if the battery is easily removable.
  • Sp Flash tool should now detect the phone and the flashing process will begin. If it still shows the ancient BROM ERROR : S_FT_ENABLE_DRAM_FAIL (4032)

Please Follow This Second Step.

  • Download the higher version of your phone’s stock firmware. E.g if your MTK phone was on Kitkat and the Kitkat ROM still shows error 4032, download the Lollipop or Marshmallow ROM and flash it.  It has solved error 4032 for me several times.  If yours just have a version number difference, go for the higher version.
  • If the above doesn’t fix it, check at the right end of Sp Flash tool to see what your device is detected as. If it’s showing USB SERIAL DEVICE or something far from MediaTek instead of MediaTek Preloader USB VCOM, just go your device manager.
  • To launch Device manager (Right-click on ‘My Computer’ and Select ‘Manage’)
  • Connect the phone to the PC via a good USB cord, Device manager should refresh.
  • Take note of what the phone is detected as (often as Unknown or USB SERIAL DEVICE)
  • Right-click whatever the phone is detected as and select Update Driver Software…
  • Select Browse my computer for driver software
  • Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
  • Click Next
  • Click Have Disk
  • Now Proceed with the MTK Drivers installation as described in the link above.

After successfully updating the driver, go back to Sp flash tool and follow the flashing procedure at step 1.

  • If it doesn’t work, uninstall all MTK drivers using USB Deview and reinstall all the drivers in the INF file.

Remember, without the exact stock ROM of the bricked device, you will get the same error 4032 in sp flash tool. Having the stock ROM puts you on the safer side.

If method 2 didn’t work, Try 3.

  • Dump the stock ROM of a working device of the same model using Miracle Box or any China phone software / tool.
  • Tick format all and flash the firmware while holding down both or either of your Volume buttons or the Home button
  • Try flashing without battery too.

Method 4 is kinda risky, but it does not really matter since the device is already bricked. Although it works very well, you should try this as a last resort, only on a bricked phone and solely at your own risk.

Flashing the wrong preloader can brick your MTK device to the extent where SP Flashtool and your computer wouldn’t even detect it.

You should be very careful with this method and only try it when everything else fails.

  • Make sure you have the stock ROM of your device (even if it’s showing enable DRAM Failed)
  • Load the file in SP Flash tool and untick every other partition apart from preloader
  • Click on the preloader tab and replace it with another preloader.bin file from the same phone model, brand or chip type. E.g, if you are getting error 4032 on a cloned Infinix X510 MT6572(Manufacturer-alps), you can replace the preloader with another preloader from an MT6572(Manufactured by alps e.g Sony XBO V5)
  • Try flashing just the preloader(You must have already flashed other partitions) If the preloader.bin flashes, try powering the phone on or flash the complete firmware with the working preloader. If you still get the same error, try another preloader.bin until one works.

How To Fix A Totally Dead MTK Phone That Doesn’t Charge Or Connect To A PC

This is when the phone is dead due to one reason or the other like formatting whole flash with boot-loader, flashing a wrong firmware or preloader / DSP, or formatting the entire flash via a flashing box.

If your phone has been bricked to the extent where the computer does not even recognize it, you might like to try this.

  1. Just get into the phone’s PCB or main board /panel and locate some points labelledCOLO/KCOLO and GND.
  2. Make a jumper or bridge from KCOLO/COLO to GND and proceed with the flashing. Your device will be detected and flashed if the MTK VCOM USB Drivers were installed properly. This method also solves advanced brick issues as well.
  3. If you can not find KCOLO or COLO, just make a jumper from GND to any of the Volume buttons and try flashing the phone again.

Hi i have a Galaxy S7 Clone (MT6580) and i bricked it with Error 0xFC0 (4032) i even tried every tutorial but it didn't worked for me. When i plug in the USB cable – the phone only reacts when i press the volume up or down button (the red led on the backside flashes when nothing is pressed and stays on if i press a button. if no program runs the phone disconnect after a few seconds. In device manager there is "MediaTek USB Port (COM5)" when its "on" , when i start SPFlash V5 , press Download / Firmware / Format the red line appears for about 45 seconds and then error 0xFC0 (4032)

When i got it, the original Firmware seems to got a virus in it, so i decided it to update (original firmware : ALPS.L1.MP6.V2_GXQ6580.WEG.L_P62) and downloaded this one to apply with SPFlash :

After the worked update, phone started – but no screen (only backlight) , but sound and ADB etc (blind used) worked. I decided to flash it again and then it got that error after the update got green 🙁

i will try to update to this :

Maybe you have a idea how to fix that error and unbrick it :(((

    Greetings from germany

Try downloading the latest version of Spflashtool here, then unpack it to get a folder. Remove the battery from your cloned Galaxy S7, load the files in Sp flashtool and retry flashing. Lets see how it goes.

Guys: I need your understanding, experience, patience and HEEELP!!!

    The history:

    2 months ago, I bought a new HUAWEI GR3 (TANGO) TAG-L23. Processor = MT6753T

I tried to root it using KingoRoot. I Messed it up… Got a soft-brick: splash screen boot loop. At that moment, I still had access to Fastboot and Recovery mode (stock recovery).

After tons of days googling, found a TWRP recovery that someone claimed that worked in GR3.

I decided to flash it using fastboot commands from my PC. Result = OK. Flashed and worked like a charm.

Tired of searching a stock/custom firmware for GR3 TAG-L23, I decided to download and flash a GR3 TAG-L22 rom using TWRP.

Result = Messed it up again… this time worst… Hard-bricked I think: the phone didn't show any light, couldn't boot it again in any mode… Dead…

The only hope I had is that it is detected by Windows for about 10 seconds as MEDIATEK USB PORT (COMxx) where xx changes when I connect it from one USB port to another.

Since then, I tried almost every tutorial/video/solution/forum/website over the internet, tried almost every SP Flash tool version from v3.1224 to v5.1628, downloaded every scatter.txt for MT6753 processor, tried changing with/without battery option in SPFT, pressing every phone buttons combos, with no luck…

I always get the same error: S_FT_ENABLE_DRAM_FAIL (0xFC0)

Downloaded and installed almost every driver I found on internet: not overwritting them… I created a Virtual Machine, and test them separately using snapshots. Result = Same DRAM_FAIL error.

last week, got another HUAWEI GR3 TAG-L23, untouched, brand new…

I did the following with the new one:

Flashed TWRP recovery using fastboot commands = OK

Rooted it using SuperSU = OK

executed tons of ADB commands that found over the internet, to dump the partition table and stock rom using dd command = OK (I think… what I got is a bunch of files – system, lk, boot, logo, cache, frp, userdata, secro, recovery, nvdata, protect1 and 2, tee1 and 2, and so on).

Using the partition table information, edited one scatter.txt file for MT6753 and, one by one, adjusted the partition info (start and lenght). I did it because when using any downloaded scatter file, and selecting the files that I got from dd commands, SPFT showed error messages saying them were wrong. After editing it and loading the files that I got from the second phone, SPFT recognized them as good ones.

    But…. I'm still getting the d…mn S_FT_ENABLE_DRAM_FAIL (0xFC0) error

Also tried to get a rom backup and scatter file from the second phone using MTK DROID ROOT & TOOLS v2.5.3 with no luck: it shows all phone information (except IMEIs), a green rectangle shows up, but… a weird message appears at right: "ERROR: TotalBytesPerChunk Not Found. Set Default Page/Spare=2048/64 !!!". Then I click on "BLOCKS MAP" button, a new window appears showing the partition info (that already got using adb command prompt) and "create scatter file" button is grayed out… And if I try to perform the backup, it starts fine, but ends with error, and no file is backed up…

Let me mention that I already read and googled the totalbytesperchunk error and the grayed out button stuff and tried all alternatives too, and nothing worked.

    My work environment:

    PC = Laptop With 8 GB RAM / Windows 10 pro x64
Virtual Machines: Windows 7 pro 32 bits, Windows XP 32 bits, Ubuntu 32 and 64 bits…

    What else can I do?

How can I use the second, rooted and working phone to get a rom/firmware working dump? it is possible?

If someone decides to help me, let me know what do you need (dumped files, downloaded scatter.txt files, screenshots, whatever you need…)

Try checking the scatter file with Notepad ++ and see if the file name for "preloader" matches the file name of the preloader file. By default it should be preloader.bin as the partition file name and the file itself. This will enable SP Flashtool to locate the preloader.bin

I have seen the screenshots as well as the preloader and dsp files you sent.

The scatter file looks good but the preloader is what actually has issues. I think it was read incorrectly. If you have an old backup or can get another backup of the same device, try using the preloader file to unbrick yours.

Hello ….. i also have the same problem …… but on a smartwatch with android ….. let me tell the story ….. the smartwatch is a “NO.1 D6”, If it was not for the battery that does not last long it would be great …. it has android 5.1 pure, not android wear, MTK6580 quad core 1.3ghz, 8gb rom and 1gb ram (!!!!), plus all you could have A smartphone, that is wifi, gps, 3g with built-in nano sim card, heart rate sensor, pedometer, barometer …. etc etc. But we come to the point ….. by mistake I activated an option for simulation developers of the display …… and immediately made very low, split splatter .. and what was important was no longer the touch screen …. But only the classic android touch keys and the physical ignition key, the only physic who has the smartwatch ….. so I had to opt for a rom flash …. but initially I could not because the phone was on i asked me To enable usb debugging via the smartwatch, but I could not do the touch screen ….. I would have confused definitely … especially by installing drivers, I still could not figure out if this smartwatch needs other drivers, For example, the preloader, or just the MTK drive modem usb …. because I had tried everything, even having windows10 I had to disable driver signature control, I installed different driver versions, even those specific to windows10, those to install Automatic ec C … then I followed this procedure on youtube,

And apparently, like magic is the upgrade …. it’s all fine ….. only that the smartwatch has not been re-energized, the pc connecting it always recognized it, but trying to flash it again i have Given the famous mistake you’re talking about here ….

So I tried in all the ways I found on the web, including yours, including the latest one … that for heavy brick, jumping GND (which would also be the negative of the usb port right?) With KCOLO …. Found by miracle watching a video to disassemble the smartwatch

This is why I was hoping to turn on the preloader, and with the driver installed it will recognize it automatically …. I also tried without battery …. but it connects and disconnects ….. i did this because the smartwatch as mentioned before It only has a physical key, that of ignition, I have to tell you it was a madness to jump GND with KCOLO, because the smartwatch has the USB connector on the cover by magnetic cable, so I had to disassemble it, but I had to close the chassis lid Dismounted, in addition to having the GND pin available, I had to make a usb cable fit by welding it, recovering the GND from the outside, then with a voltmeter pointer, able to bridge it on KCOLO with open smartwatch …. but it is Everything was useless because of the usual error BROM ERROR etc … without battery you connect and disconnect even after pressing the download button on the flash tool and connecting the usb cable to the pc …. I do not know more than I have to do, I do not want to Throw it In the trash …… it has a week of life the smartwatch

Sorry for the poem very long but I wanted to explain everything

    greetings from Italy

The error is as a result of flashing a wrong preloader to your smartwatch. Try flashing this firmware / the preloader.bin via SP flashtool.

Hi christian, unfortunately I have already tried with the same result ……. what you sent me is the latest firmware 16126-142529, downloaded from the official website en.001phone ….. but maybe i have not yet tried With the version of sp flash tool v5 1524 in the same attachment you sent me …. but i tried with the latest version sp flash tool v5 1620 …… i think i do not change anything …… so To me just the mediatek usb port driver ?? Does not matter the preloader driver and the others ??

The Mediatek Preloader USB VCOM DRIVER, MEDIATEK DA USB VCOM Drivers are very important. What is your device detected as in device manager / SP flashtool?

Only “usb modem drivers” are displayed in device management, but only when connected and disconnected, then with the flash tool started and the “download” key pressed, when connecting the smartwatch remains connected and the “100% download” red strip. .. even though I have manually installed all 5 available mediatek drivers including the preloader ….. the smartwatch ignores them completely and connects only with “usb modem driver”, the same one that appears at the bottom right on the flash tool

Try updating the USB Modem Driver to Mediatek Preloader USB VCOM DRIVER via device manager. Then, see if you can successfully flash the firmware.
Also consider restarting your PC after drivers update.

Amazing ….. it happened a miracle ….. I had completely disassembled the smartwatch to make jumper from pin kcolo to gnd, but it was not necessary, how to try to install the preloader driver and all the others besides mtk usb Modem ….. why i had skipped your first part of method 4 ….. or looking for another preloader bin from a firmware of another device ….. and i have to say I was lucky because the First alternative I found of a samsung g6000 with the same mt6580 chip ….. it went well at the first shot !!!!! So I used the latest version of sp flash tool (v5 1620) and the firmware available on the official website no.1 .. (the smartwatch brand), although i have flash tools since the latest version comes to v5 1712 … but it does not matter because it is not served … so I started flash tool v5 1620 with the latest smartwatch firmware …. i replaced preloader bin with samsung with mt6580 …. i disable everything The rest of the firmware except samsung preloader ….. started the download, so connected the smartwatch … and magic happened …… uploaded it as nothing was ……. then Obviously I flashed the rest of the firmware excluding the newly loaded modified preloader bin … all smooth as the oil …. the problem then was reassembling the smartwatch … to find the pin kcolo I had disconnected all the micro connectors Gps, wifi, display, heart rate sensor, usb port, and the ignition button I had mounted to the contrary and did not work , So I had to repeat the assembly more than once, risking to throw it in the trash bin for the next time, not to mention that with all the attempts to resuscitate the smartwatch earlier I had also downloaded the microscopic battery from 450mah, fortunately i Had the tendency to take it off and measure the voltmeter with a volt meter …. it was 3.2 volts … so using micro pins connected to positive and negative using a digital model battery charger , I uploaded it completely to the rule of art and I ended the unbrick successfully ……. I do not know how to thank you christian …. you have been of fundamental help …. if we meet we will offer you a dinner

I bought a xaoimi mi note lte (3gig ram 64gig storage) not Knowing it was a clone. I tried updating with xaomi official firmware which resulted in a brick, the phone was still able to charge and boot but end up with a blank screen after the mi logo.I googled and got some tutorial on how to use sp flash tool to unbrick and reload the os.
This ended in hard bricked device. now I always get “enable dram fail” as error message on sp tool whenever i try to flash it.
    the device is mtk 6582.The TD-LTE 2014616.

I have tried all tutorials on you-tube with no luck.

    what else should i do?

Your device as you rightly said, is a clone of the Xiaomi Mi Note LTE. Do you have the stock firmware of your device? (Probably before it got bricked)
