How to flash firmware to your Archos device

After downloading the exact firmware foryour Archos smartphone or Tablet, flashing it using the right tool is very important.

Archos devices are powered by a different SoCs like Snapdragon, Mediatek, SPD-Spreadtrum, Rockchip etc. You need to know your CPU type before trying to install any of the downloaded firmware.

If you have downloaded your Archos firmware which is an file, you can install it using your Archos device via the stock recovery.

Follow these steps.

  1. Download your update
  2. Turn on your device and plug it to your computer
  3. Copy the update (without decompressing it) from your computer to the internal memory of your device
  4. Unplug the device from your computer

The update should automatically be detected once you have un-plugged your device. If this is not the case, go in the Files application  (by default) and touch the name of the update (format .IMG, .ZIP or .AOS) so that Android™ can start to install it.


Alternatively, if your device is soft bricked…

  1. Download the update(zip file)
  2. Copy it to your device root storage.
  3. Boot into recovery mode
  4. Wipe data/factory reset
  5. Select Install update
  6. Locate the update file and select it to install.
  7. Reboot your device when all is done.
